A PLATFORM FOR INSPIRATION
The ‘1001 Titles’ initiative was announced by ‘Knowledge Without Borders’ last February. It aims to release 1001 Emirati publications over the next two years.
In line with the UAE’s declaration of 2016 as the Year of Reading, this Dh5 million initiative will be implemented through 2016 and 2017, enriching public libraries and school and university libraries with Emirati publications.
Zaman created an identity for the initiative that was inspired by 1001 Arabian Nights, the famous collection of stories from all corners of the Arab world. The dots within the logo type are reminiscent of the lanterns of Arabic heritage.
The details of the initiative and the identity were revealed during a press conference organized at Al Noor Island, which was attended by Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al-Qasimi, Head of the Organizing Committee of Knowledge Without Borders and founder and honorary president of the Emirates Publishers Association (EPA).
Zaman designed & produced the launch event environment and the collaterals shared with the attending publishers and press.
“Supporting local authors and publishers means boosting the UAE’s contribution to enriching Arab culture and we hope that these books will touch readers’ hearts and minds and serve as an incentive for young Emiratis to be creative and fulfil their ambitions to become writers.”
