Designer spotlight – Nada Debs showcasing the best of Eastern interiors design
Today we’d like to shine a little design love on an Arab brand that is championing the best of Eastern interiors & furniture design. Combining the unique cultural & design elements of the Middle East right across to the Far East in a design concept labelled “East & East”; Nada Debs is a Beirut-based interiors & furniture brand with two retail stores that all visitors to Lebanon would do well to add to their must-see list.
In existence for over a decade now, with global representation in New York, London, Rome and Dubai, the brand is named after its owner Nada Debs. Nada, of Lebanese origin, grew up in Japan, studied interior architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design in the US, and started her own design and production of bespoke furniture company in the UK, later moving back to Lebanon to start her company East and East in 2000.
Nada’s diverse background led her to combine the cool minimalism of the Japanese aesthetic with the rich traditions of Arabic pattern and warmth of materials to create a unique expression of Eastern design through her interior pieces. At the heart of Nada’s work remains an idea that is ever present in her designs – that of preserving one’s cultural roots while forging an identity for herself, her compatriots, and for the world, of the modern Arab.
Full details of the collections can be found on the official NadaDebs.com website.
